Vinyl Production

Extensive Knowledge

When it comes to Vinyl pressing we understand that it takes knowledge and a wealth of experience to provide the highest quality records that are consistently perfect.

In providing a one-stop manufacturing solution we manage everything from mastering, pressing and printed materials to standard and special packaging or finishing with a full UK-based collation, assembly and distribution service.

Mastering Excellence

We offer lacquer cutting to produce master plates. This is the older method of mastering vinyl records, though it is still widely used due to the tradition of lacquer cutting through the years.

This process produces wider and deeper grooves which are more tolerant of surface damage and offer higher resistance usually caused by badly calibrated turntables. We do not currently offer Direct Metal Mastering.

Quality Production

Vinyl Pressing has not changed in 40 years. The pressing plants use the same technology available back then.

However modern production principles have introduced tighter quality control and a focus on customer satisfaction and added value.

We combine the best of both of these worlds, to enable our customers to enjoy the best quality production methods and outstanding customer service.

Special Packaging

Our Vinyl Format list includes 7”, 10” and 12” Formats and we also offer additional options of coloured Vinyl, Heavy Vinyl and the option to change Vinyl colour within the pressing run.
We ensure that only the highest quality compound materials are used alongside the best equipment and expert staff to deliver a perfect result every time. In addition to test pressings, we deploy a quality control process that includes random listening tests made throughout the production cycle.

Mastering and Manufacturing Excellence

We believe that you don’t have to be expensive to provide top quality products. We work with the finest technicians and sound engineers, relying on the experience of men and women that have been pressing records in the 1970s and 1980s when vinyl had its hey-day.

We simply combine our ethos for affordable products with the quality principles that have existed for 50+ years to create quality products.

  • Lacquer Mastering

We believe that Lacquer Mastering is the basis for a superior product, due to its warmer sound and more dynamic bass range.

Traditionally lacquer cutting has been the expensive option and Direct Metal Mastering (DMM) became more popular due to less steps involved and quicker turnaround, as Lacquers require an additional step during the galvanic process.

However, true audiophiles have always been divided about the perceived gain in the higher range vs the sacrifice of a more voluminous bass line.

Lacquer cut mastering produces a warmer sound and less skipping due to the groove depth. Drum beats and general bass frequencies appear richer and more present.

We prefer the latter and our clients seem to agree, which is why we offer Lacquer Cutting as standard.

  • Quality Heavy Vinyl

The sound quality of a record has, within reason and contrary to many myths that have been in existence, very little to do with the actual thickness or weight of a vinyl record.

As long as the vinyl ‘biscuit’ is thick enough for the depth of the cutting groove and from virgin vinyl, the thickness has a negligible effect on the sound.

As the groove depth is determined during mastering we put the emphasis on quality and care into the cutting and plating, professional work and know-how has a significant impact on the final sound quality.

However, we believe that heavy vinyl is ultimately less prone to warping and is more stable during playback, aside from the more substantial feel.

When it comes to the final product we prefer the thicker, weightier feel of heavy vinyl and as a result offer a heavy weight 160g option as standard.
